Baking soda
White vinegar
Lemon juice (optional for extra brightness)
Hot water
Step 1: Check the Care Label
Ensure the pillows are washable and suitable for machine washing or handwashing.
Step 2:Pre-Treat Stains
Make a paste with baking soda and water, and apply it directly to the yellowed areas. Let it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing.
Step 3: Prepare the Soak
Fill a large tub or your washing machine with hot water.
Add 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of white vinegar.
Optionally, squeeze the juice of one lemon into the water for extra whitening power.
Step 4: Soak the Pillows
Submerge the pillows completely in the solution and let them soak for 2–4 hours. Agitate the water occasionally to help lift stains.
Step 5: Wash the Pillows
If machine washing, run a gentle cycle using only water (no detergent).
If handwashing, rinse thoroughly with clean water until all residue is gone.
Dry Properly:
Squeeze out excess water without wringing the pillows.
Dry in sunlight if possible, as the sun’s natural bleaching properties can enhance brightness.
For machine drying, use low heat and toss in clean tennis balls or dryer balls to maintain fluffiness.
Repeat if necessary for stubborn stains!
But please, don't use traditional laundry detergents for this, or for any of your laundry. Because...
